On June 28, 2023 around 1:20 PM, the Lower Allen Township Police Department was dispatched to the Capital City Mall in reference to an active retail theft. Mall Security reported the active retail theft and stated that a male was running out of the mall towards the Sportsman's Warehouse. As police units arrived in the area, the male entered a white Nissan Murano. Officers were able to stop the vehicle in the parking lot.
The vehicle was occupied by three individuals. It was reported that all three individuals were seen concealing merchandise from American Eagle in "booster bags" and leaving the mall with stuffed bags in tow.
The driver of the car initially identified himself as Luis Sanchez-Perez. He was informed he was the subject of an official investigation and then he gave his true name as Juan Camilo Paucar-Fonseca. After being read his Miranda warnings, Paucar-Fonseca admitted to stealing pants from the mall. The male passenger was identified as Edicson Marquez-Parada. The female passenger identified herself as Francy Marquez-Parada, but was later found to be Monica Coria-Olvera, a wanted person by U.S. Immigration. She also admitted to stealing clothing from the Mall.
Officers recovered $2,572.63 worth of Aeropostle and American Eagle clothing from within the vehicle. Other security tags, homemade booster bags, magnets, and a small sickle used to pry tags apart were also found.
All three were arrested and transported to CCP.
