Police arrested 20-year-old Benjamin Mount after he physically assaulted a 16-year-old family member inside of his residence on Mill Creek Road, in the Holland section of Northampton Township. On November 23, 2019, at 9:27 am, police responded to the report of a violent assault inside of the residence. Upon arrival, police were told that, as a result of an argument over Christmas lights, Mount attacked a 16-year-old family member. Mount, who is six feet tall, weighing 200lbs, picked up the female relative and dropped her to the ground, causing her head to hit the side of a sled. The force of the impact was sufficient to cause injury to her face and caused the sled to break. It was reported that Mount fled when he heard police sirens.
Police began searching the area for Mount and found him hiding behind a shed on the property. Mount refused to obey commands given by police and when police eventually approached him, Mount began moving quickly away from police and onto Mill Creek Road, continuing to ignore police directions. Police finally approached Mount to arrest him and Mount physically resisted police attempts to handcuff him. Police eventually overcame the physical resistance and Mount was taken into custody.
Mount was transported to Northhampton Police headquarters, where he was processed and arraigned in front of Magisterial District Justice Douple and released from custody on 25,000, unsecured bail.
