September 12th, 2026 was National Police Woman Day. The day commemorates the hiring of Alice Wells by the Los Angeles Police Department in 1910. Although not the first woman in law enforcement, Wells is believed to be the first woman in the United States to receive arrest powers.

The Hanover Borough Police department celebrates its three women law enforcement officers, Katherine O'Donnell, Kaylin Julias, and Kelly Bartos. Thank you for your service to the department and the Hanover Borough community. We wish you success in your law enforcement careers!
