The East Lansdowne Police Department is proud to announce the launch of our Blue Envelope Initiative — a community-centered program designed to promote safer, more effective interactions between first responders and individuals who may experience challenges communicating during emergencies or traffic stops.
The Blue Envelope is a free, special-purpose envelope that can securely hold a driver’s license, registration, insurance card, and important communication notes. It provides helpful guidance to both the motorist and responding officers, ensuring interactions remain calm, clear, and respectful.
This initiative is especially beneficial for individuals with:
• Autism spectrum disorders
• Hearing or speech impairments
• Cognitive or developmental disabilities
• Anxiety or other communication-related conditions
By simply presenting the Blue Envelope during an encounter, individuals can discreetly alert officers that they may need additional time, patience, or communication support.
💙 Envelopes are available free of charge at the East Lansdowne Police Department.
"Our goal is simple: Improve understanding. Enhance safety. Strengthen community trust." Chief James Cadden
For more information or to obtain a Blue Envelope, please contact the East Lansdowne Police Department or stop by the station during normal business hours. Monday thru Friday 9am to 4pm.
