On 12/27/2017 officers were dispatched to the intersection of Market Street and Roop Street for a report of child abuse. During the course of the investigation, the victim stated that his mother, Talisha Brandao, had hit him several times in the face with a back scratcher. The investigating officer also spoke with another sibling concerning the alleged abuse. The victim's sister stated that her mother had hit her with a belt. The officer did observe that the victim had bruises on her lips, cheekbone and eye. She also had several cuts and scratches.
While attempting to place Ms. Brandao under arrest, she became resistive and had to be forcibly handcuffed. The children were taken into protective custody by Dauphin County Child and Youth Services. Ms. Brandao was charged with simple assault, domestic violence, endangering the welfare of children, resisting arrest and harassment. She was taken to the booking center for arraignment.
