On August 4, 2022, at 6:28 PM, Saugerties Police responded to the area of Red Maple Road for a 911 call reporting a personal injury motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, Officers observed a vehicle that had veered off the roadway and struck a tree. The operator of the vehicle, 68-year-old Scott Steyer was still in the vehicle. Incidental to their investigation of the crash, Steyer was charged with DWI. Steyer who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash was additionally charged with Failure to Stay Right and Failing to wear a Seatbelt. Steyer was processed and then released on tickets returnable to the Town of Saugerties Justice Court on August 10, 2022, to answer his charges.
