On March 18, 2022, at 2:30 AM Saugerties Police responded to the Sunoco Gas Station on Route 32 in the Town of Saugerties for a burglary alarm. Upon arrival Officer observed that the business had been broken into, a larger rock had been thrown through the Glass doors. Investigation revealed the burglar had stolen cash, New York Lottery scratch off tickets and packs of Newport cigarettes. Incidental to processing the scene and conducting an area canvas, officers came across a cell phone and personal documents, belonging to 36-year-old Michael Spiecker of Kingston.
On March 18, 2022, at 7:46 PM, Incidental to questioning, Spiecker was taken into custody and charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree and Petit Larceny. Incidental to processing, Spiecker was arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Justice Court where, he was released on his own recognizance. Spiecker is scheduled to appear in the Town of Saugerties Justice Court on Wednesday March 23, 2022, to answer his charges.
