On December 10, 2021, Saugerties Police responded to a commercial business located on Kings Highway in the Town of Saugerties for a reported Burglary. The company owner reported to police that a large sum of U.S. currency had been removed from a safe at the business location. An investigation by police established that an employee of the business, 38-year-old Amanda E. Degroat of Saugerties had taken the money. On December 20, 2021, Degroat turned herself in at Saugerties Police Headquarters, where she was processed on the felony charge of Grand Larceny in the third degree.
