On June 23, 2022, Sherri Cruz turned herself into Saugerties Police Headquarters following an investigation into a forged check. Cruz is alleged to have forged a signature on the back of a check which was deposited into a local banking establishment without the consent of the victim. Cruz was arraigned in Village of Saugerties Justice Court and then released on her own recognizance to reappear in Village Court on a later date to answer her charge.
