One Person Dead After Skiing Accident

Mesa County, Colorado - On January 6, 2023 at approximately 3:30 pm in the afternoon the Mesa County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the Powderhorn Mountain Resort for a male found unconcious in the Thunderbird Glade area. Two skiiers discovered the male buried in the snow and immediately called for help. The Powderhorn Ski Patrol was dispatched and were able to locate the male. They immediately began CPR once he was extricated, but he remained unresponsive. First responders continued CPR as they transported him to a waiting ambulance, however the 29 year old man was later pronouced deceased.
The Mesa County Coroner's Office is responsible for determining the cause and manner of death as well as releasing the person’s identity.
