High water dangers
Very high river levels are expected for the next couple of weeks as high country melting continues to affect river levels. People should be very careful around fast-moving water and be extremely cautious. High river levels create a significant amount of debris, including large trees floating in the water. The amount of debris also creates snag hazards which sometimes cannot be seen or avoided. With the increased risk of snags, it is recommended to avoid recreating in the river during this high water time. When participating in any water activities, people should always use a multi-chamber raft and appropriate well-fitting personal floatation devices.
